Ambassador Marcelo Balbi Calvo assumed his duties at the head of this Representation on November 3, 2023, and serves as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and Antigua and Barbuda, respectively.
The Ambassador is a career diplomat and graduated from the University of Buenos Aires as a lawyer in 1993. Between 1994 and 1999, he was part of the professional body of the Prefectura Naval Argentina (PNA).
In 2003 he graduated from the National Foreign Service Institute (ISEN), and throughout his diplomatic career, he served in the Argentine Embassy to the Republic of Colombia (2015-2021), and in the Consulate General in Punta Arenas, Republic of Chile (2006-2012).
Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship (MRECIC) he was Coordinator of Oceanic and South Atlantic Policy (2022-2023), and has served in the Undersecretary of Affairs Relating to the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, Sandwich of the South and the surrounding maritime spaces of the South Atlantic (2012-2015).
Ambassador Balbi Calvo is married to Mrs. Fabiana Fajardo.
